Inside cover final draft

For my inside cover i have done simply effective desgin.
I have done the design simple because usually the audaince will not see the inside till it is brought.
I have put down the award acheivements of the band on the inside cover.

final cover

This is the first draft of my front cover for my CD.
I have used a medium shot which lets the veiwer see all the top half of the body.
I took the picture at night time to give it a more rock look, other than having a happy day time picture more suitable to a pop group.

Final Cut

This is my final cut. It's had a few tweaks since the rough cut though the picture quality isn't great for some reason. I'll be getting feedback before re-editing. When uploaded from the mac to normal computer if put some parts of the video slightly out of timing and also the picture qaulity didn't seem to be as good. This happened when i transfered it with a memory stick.

This is another mock cover which i made using different images and fonts.

Album mock cover.

This is a mock album cover that i have designed and i used sean smith of the blackout on the front cover as he will attract people. Also i have made it as a top 100 rock album and not a artist/band album. The album covers white and black contrast makes the whole album stand out to the audiance.

Copy right email

This the email asking island records for permission to use the 2 songs, explaining that no profit will be made off the video.

Planning

After choosing about 4 choices of different songs i have decided as a final decision to do Introduction for destruction/Nothing on my back by sum 41, for the video i have set it at night using lighting and speed to make parts of the video, also i have shot the playing of a guitar for part of the video. No need for introduction is a 38 second intro to the album and nothing on my back is the song after on the ablum.

Wall of arms and tour poster

This is the promotional poster for the maccabees new album wall of arms and also the october tour.

The poster shows the image off there album and it has the same font.

The poster shows all there gigs and where they are and when they are. It also shows when the tickets are on sale and shows there website and myspace.

Wall of arms album cover

This is the album cover for wall of arms by the maccabees. This is the second album from the maccabees. The album cover is really just a plain cover witha white and grey background.

The album has an image of the band on but the band has been made to look like they are painted. This could show that they are confidant that they have an audiance because they dont need to show there faces to be known.

The artist name and album name are at the top of the album above the image and is in a simple font.

Diamonds aren't forever music video

This is the music video for the song diamonds aren't forever by bring me the horizon.

This video has been made using one of there live gigs. All shots used in this video last no longer than 3 seconds, which is used to keep the audiance entertained.

This video has many different types of shots used; medium shot, close up, high angle, low angle, canted angle, also different movements are used such as pans, tilts, dolly shots, hand held, zoom lense. The video is censored because of the swearing.

BMTH suicide season promotional poster

This is the promotional poster for the album suicide season by bring me the horizon.

Th cover has elements of the album cover as it has the same iamge except it is only half the image as it is on the right hand side of the poster. Also it has the band name and album name in the same font except it is black on the poster and this could be to make it stand out more as they are promoting it.

The poster includes the release date of the album and also says where you can pre-order the album from.

This poster would bhe used over the internet as it says click here to pre-order but the poster which would be used on shops would be the same other that the click here section.

BMTH suicide season album cover.

This is the album cover for bring me the horizon's suicide season.

This album cover consists of a white background with a women who is made to look like she is holding intestines or has them hor hands. This could represent the band as quite brutal.

The band name and album name are in a bold and dull font. Also the font colour is like a see through white colour so that you can jus see it over the white background and the image of the woman.

The cover is very simple and has nothing on or than one image, band name and album name.

American Sweethearts video

This is the music video for american sweethearts by fall out boy. This video is an animated video which the band members are in. The band members aren't aminated but all the other elements in the video are.

All the shots in the video last no longer than 5 seconds and this is so that it intrests the audiance and they ont get bored of one shot.
The video shows like a hollywood element with the press and the celbrity's. The video shows people at there homes watching the video on there TV and then they get brought into there tv and end up in this animated world where they are aminated.

Folie a deux promotional poster

This is the promotional poster for the album folie a deux. The poster is abit different from the album as the colour is different, the font and also the bear.

The colour on the poster is a dull green whereas the album is a red and dark red colour. The bear on the poster is the type of bear that a kid would have as its more of a childish bear whereas on the album its a man in a bear costume and a real bear. The bear on the poster is shown to be drunk on the floor and also abit torn up.

There is also no connection through the band name font as it is different on all the album covers but the album name is the same font as on the album.

Folie a deux album cover

This is the album cover of folie a deux by fall out boy. Th album is there latest album and it doesn't consist of a image of the band, this could be because they know that they are well known so they don't need an image to show who they are.

The colour of the cover starts off red at the top and from the middle the colour starts to darken and at the bottom is a very dark red.

The image on the album is a cartoon image which consists of a man dressed up in a bear costume carrying a bear on his back. This image could show that they have had to work hard to get where they have got to as a band.

The band name is to the left of the image and the album name is to the right of the image.

The kooks music video.

This is the kooks music video for the song 'You don't love me'.
This video consists of only two things which are shots from a live gig and shots of them backstage.
There are many different angles used in this video; crowdview, pan, longshot, medium shot, close up, lowshot, high angle, eye level. All these shots last no longer than three seconds and are changing from shot to shot. The crowdview shot in this video is used alot because it shows what the crowd are seeing and also puts you in there position. And also the eye level shot is used alot on stage looking towards the crowd and this shows what the band see.

The whole video is also shot in black and white which relates back to the album cover and album poster.

The kooks poster

This is the poster to the album inside in inside out by the kooks. The poster is really just the image off the album cover accept the colour of the picture is more grey and less white. Also the album title has been brought of and the band name has been made bigger.

The Kooks Album Cover

This is the first album by the kooks called inside in inside out. The album cover is genrally just a laid back picture of the band, it is laid back because none of the band members are posing or looking at the camera. The picture consists of band lead singer, guitarists and drummer.

The lead singer and lead guitarist are at the front of the pictur both sitting down and playing there guitars. The next guitarist is sitting back abit more and not playing his guitar also leading with his head on the wall. Next to him there is a mirror where you can see the drummer in the background, this could suggest that alot of band drummers aren't as much noticed in the band as the singer and guitarists.

The cover cosists of only three colours; black, white and red, the image is black and white and the album name is in red. As the image of the band is black and white it could me that they do not see them selfs as a well known band and could also mean that they don't like press or the hype.

Crying lightning video

This is the video of Arctic Monkeys new single 'Crying lightning', the video shows the band in a row bout on the sea, the band are very laid back and casual within the video. The band are sailing through the sea as the play. The video could link to there album cover and poster as the video is dark and dull.

Humbug poster

Behind the album cover on this image is the official poster for the album. It is very much the same accept the image has been cropted down abit and a brown blank side down the left with arctic monkeys in the bottom left hand corner.

As the image has been cropted dsown you can only see 3 of the band members on the poster, this could show that the band know that they are quite popular because you can't see all the band members.

This is the album cover of the new arctic monkeys album 'humbug', as you can see the album uses one image which is of the band in practise. The band name 'arctic monkeys' isn't in a b ig and bold font this could be because the band know that they are well known so they dont need to have there name big on the front to be noticed as people will notice them on the front. Also the name of the album isn't shown on the front of the album cover.

The picture looks like it is in a a studio or small room, but the room also looks old and abit tacky

The postcards are animated pictures of the band from when they were at the Apollo.

DVD

The DVD cover is just the same as the poster accept it doesn’t have any of the writing on the front like the poster does.

Poster

This is the poster which was used at the cinema’s when promoting the film/gig. The poster is attractive because it has all the bands members on in different colours, while the main singer (Alex Turner) is in the red and the picture is bigger. Him being in red could show that he is the main man because red is a more demanding colour.

Arctic Monkeys Box set/Digi Pack

This is a box set of when the arctic monkeys were at the Manchester Apollo.
The box set includes; DVD, Poster, Vinyl, Postcards
The box cover is a plain white colour with the title dominating the cover as it is big and bold in the centre.

The album cover is abstract with lots of different images. The album is like wall paper with the middle section ripped out and inside the middle section are the images, band name and album name.

Lots of different colours are used to attract audiances. On the bottom left hand corner there is paint splatterd up the album cover which is abstact and in the top left hand corner there are birds which could relate back to the first album where there are birds in the corners.

Very abstract video with lots of editing

The poster has the same image has the album cover, but at the bottom has the klaxons in big and the name of the album and they are also in the kind of scribble writing the same as the album.

The album cover is very abstract with lots of random images used and put together to make one big image.
The writing of the title is kind of like scribble writing.
The way the album is makes it stand out on the shelf so that people pick it up and want to buy it.

This music video relates with the album cover because of the dark colour on the video as it is set at night. Also the cover has orange on which could represent fire and on the video there is fire.

CCTV camera are used for some of the shots. Also a camera off a helicopter is used so that you can see from over head shots.

The poster isn’t really the same as the album cover. The only thing the same is the fonts. And it has a black background.
The image has a gas mask on which could represent destruction because gasmasks could be worn when desrtuction happens.
The image also has abit of graffiti on which is the same as the album cover.
Also when looked at closely you can see that the poster image is set onto a black wall.

The album cover is a bit abstract and cartoon. But the cartoon is a more mature cartoon as it looks real and this is what could attract people to the album.

The image has the colours of red, orange and black which could represent destruction and violence, also the album title has breakdown in which could represent violence. The title and album artist font looks like its been spray painted on and there is also a wall in the background which shows wall do typically get spray painted on, this could represent vandolism.

My name is Matt Collins A2 media studies student. And for my A2 course i had a choose of doing a music video or film trailer. I picked music video as i prefer music to film. As i have only just started i don't really have an idea of what song or type of video i will do.
